Very social and energetic coach with a sense of humor. Easy going but really serious when it comes to coaching. Very competitive but foremost driven by goals set up within the team and organisation. Appreciates having the possibility to develop young players and at the same time winning with the experience of the olders. Follows the mentality - "superb defense is the start of a great offense."
1999-2004 Political Science, Mid Sweden University; Sundsvall, Sweden - Bachelor Degree.
2003-2004 Preparation studies for Hungarian University, Ballasi Balint Intezet (Budapest). Literature, History and Hungarian.
2008-2010 Elite Coach (Stockholm, Sweden) - Level 4. The highest level you can achieve within the Swedish Baskeball Federation.
|2003-2005||Sundsvall Dambasket (Sweden, Second League women) - Assistant coach. While still a player took his first serious assignment as a coach. The club had a three year plan to qualify and move up to the First League. Their first year team finished in 3rd spot, placing them outside qualification. Second year team won second division and also the qualification moving them up to the First League.|
|2005-2009||KFUM Nässjö Basket (Sweden, Second League men) - Coach/Player. Coached a team that had only one year experience in the Second League and led the them- first as a team captain then as a head coach, to win Swedish second division and qualify for the First League. Because of financial difficulties the club did not accept the spot in the First League this time.|
|2009-2010||Gothia Basket (Sweden, First League men) - Assistant coach in the Swedish top league. After winning the second league felt that he needed a challenge and some different perspectives. During this year he was assisting coach of Algirdas Milonas (Lithuania) and broadened his perspective and also got insights in Lithuanian mentality and Lithuanian basketball. This was one of the most important periods in his coaching career.|

|2010-2011||Brahe Basket (Sweden, First League women) - Head coach. Also instructor at Sanda National Elite Basketball Gymnasium (boys). Head coach for the women's team in Huskvarna. The club's goal was to qualify and stay in the top league. Team reached this goal by winning the last game of the season. During this period he was also instructor for the boys program at Sanda Basketball Gymnasium. Main goal was to develop players for the international level.|
|2010-2014||Swedish Mens National Team - Assistant coach of Brad Dean (Aalst, Belgium). His main task was to scout and prepare a tactical plan against their opponents. Was part of the first Swedish National Team in 17 years to qualify for the Eurobasket.|
|2011-2014||KFUM Nässjö Basket (Sweden, Second/First League) - Head coach. Returned to the club he played for and that finished in 5th place in Sweden’s Second League and led it to qualification for the First League. Coached Sweden’s youngest team in the top league for two consecutive years both developing young talents and competing against all opponents.|

"Stefan Timbus is one of Sweden top ranked coaches. He has been involved in the national team program for several years, ranging from U16 to senior. He was a big part of the success of Sweden qualifying to Eurobasket 2013 in Slovenia. Right now he is beginning his fourth year as assistant coach for the senior men's national team with the goal to qualify for the Euro Championships 2015.
Stefan is born in Cluj-Napoca and is of Romanian and Hungarian origin. He has worked his way up trough the Swedish basketball system and has also completed the highest level of Swedish basketball coaching education with the basketball federation obtaining him level 4 elite coaches' diploma.
During his coaching career he has worked with several different styles of top level European and American coaches. This has given him a broad array of tools and deep knowledge of the game of basketball.
Even though young, he has shown great analytical and tactical skills during his time as coach. He complements his analytical side with a great work ethic and a strong, positive attitude. Having Stefan as a coach will for sure benefit your organization and open doors of collaboration with the Swedish basketball program.
